Adaptive Recreation Experiences

Adaptive Recreation

Recreation for all Abilities

After a traumatic injury, accident, or event folks might assume they’ll have to miss out on certain activities they used to enjoy. Sunnyview's Adaptative Recreation team provides individuals with disabilities, including those in wheelchairs, the opportunity to return to activities they enjoyed previously. Participants can even try something brand new.

Adaptive Recreation at Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital: Who is it For?

Our adaptive recreation programs are open to anyone with disabilities, including those in wheelchairs. There is no requirement to be a current or previous Sunnyview patient.

Adaptive Recreation at Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital: Why Choose Us?

Sunnyview’s Adaptive Recreation Experiences provide a unique experience, whether an entirely new activity or something they’ve done before. Our recreational therapists work with local and national organizations including Stand Up and Play Foundation, Y-Knot Sailing, and The Adaptive Sports Foundation, to provide the best experience.

What Experiences are Offered?

Past programs include indoor rock climbing, kayaking, sailing, fly fishing, golf, virtual paint and sip, and virtual boxing.  All necessary gear: harnesses, life jackets, helmets, etc are included. The cost varies per program and ranges from $15-35.

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected the number of programs, and the number of individuals we can serve.
