We are a physician-guided weight management program. Experts from multiple specialties, including bariatric surgery and obesity medicine, identify your weight loss challenges. We help you push past these obstacles to maintain long-term weight loss and a healthy lifestyle.
St. Peter's Health Partners Bariatric and Metabolic Care: Why Choose Us?
Weight loss experts at St. Peter's Health Partners deliver care that exceeds national quality and safety standards. Our attention to your medical needs and preferences gives you the best chances of keeping weight off for good. Our services and reputation for results draw patients from great distances.
Highlights of our program include:
- National recognition: We maintain Comprehensive Center Accreditation designation from the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP®) at St. Peter's Hospital. This designation recognizes our commitment to high-quality bariatric surgery with a focus on your safety.
- Team approach: You have access to a team of specialists that works together to help you succeed. In addition to bariatric surgeons, you receive care from a licensed mental health counselor, board-certified physician specializing in obesity and registered dietitians. Learn more about our team approach to weight loss.
- Personalized care: Your weight loss journey is as unique as you are. We take time to get to know you and check on you frequently to help you stay on track. If your weight loss is not progressing as expected, we provide additional nutrition or lifestyle recommendations and encouragement.
- Minimally invasive techniques: We typically perform surgery using small incisions and sophisticated technologies. A camera and tiny surgical instruments enable us to carry out the procedure. This technique is gentler on your body and helps you heal quickly.
- Excellent results: As a metabolic weight loss program, our sole focus is on helping you lose weight and keep it off. We build lasting relationships with patients, making it easier to support you through a challenging time. Meet our surgeons.
Is Bariatric Surgery Right for Me?
Bariatric surgery is a common medical weight loss treatment. We offer multiple options, including gastric bypass and gastric sleeve surgery. We perform a high volume of procedures and maintain extremely low complication rates. Explore types of bariatric surgery.

Nonsurgical Weight Loss Options
If you wish to avoid surgery or do not qualify for it, we offer nonsurgical medical weight loss services. Insurance typically covers these services if you are eligible. Medical weight loss may also be part of your care before or after bariatric surgery.
Nonsurgical medical weight loss options include:
- Behavior modification: Our mental health counselor assists you in pushing past old habits, such as emotional eating, and body image issues.
- Nutrition counseling: A registered dietitian teaches you about healthy eating and how to get the nutrients you need.
- Weight loss medications: If you are not pursuing surgery, our obesity medicine specialist may prescribe medications to help you lose weight.
- Support: We support your weight loss efforts in groups and online. Discussions cover a range of topics, including exercise, what to eat and solutions to common weight loss challenges.
