We have received numerous awards and accolades over the years for high quality, compassionate care. These achievements are a direct reflection of the talented, caring professionals who work at our facilities all across St. Peter’s Health Partners. 

St. Peter’s Hospital (482 Staffed Beds):

  • U.S. News & World Report (USN&WR) has awarded St. Peter’s Hospital (SPH) some of its highest rankings in New York state for excellent quality of care. (2019-2024)
    • In rating nearly 5,000 hospitals nationally on key indicators of patient care, the magazine placed St. Peter’s Hospital 13th among all hospitals in New York state. (2023-2024)
    • It also ranked St. Peter’s Hospital No. 1 in the Capital Region (2023-2024).
    • St. Peter’s Hospital had 17 adult specialties, adult procedures, and conditions singled out as “high performing” – aortic valve surgery; back surgery; colon cancer surgery; chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD); congestive heart failure (CHF); diabetes; gastroenterology; heart attack; heart bypass surgery; hip replacement; kidney failure; knee replacement; lung cancer surgery; pneumonia; prostate cancer surgery; stroke; and urology.   • Newsweek has recognized St. Peter's Hospital as a "Best Place to Work for Women." (2024) 
  • USN&WR recognized St. Peter's Hospital as "Best Hospital for Maternity Care (Uncomplicated Pregnancy)." St. Peter's was the only hospital in the Capital Region to receive the designation. (2021-2022)
  • St. Peter's Hospital is the only hospital in the Capital Region to receive a "Baby Friendly" designation (for a second time) from Baby-Friendly USA, Inc. This is considered the gold standard in maternity care, launched by the World Health Organization and the United Nations Children's Fund. (2022-2027)
  • St. Peter's Hospital has received the American Heart Association's Gold Plus Get With The Guidelines® (GWTG)-Stroke Quality Achievement Award. (2023)
  • St. Peter's Hospital has received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines® (GWTG) Stroke Gold Plus with Target:Type 2 DiabetesTM Honor Roll Quality Achievement Award. (2021-2022)
  • St. Peter's Hospital College of Nursing is ranked fifth by Nursing Schools Almanac for best associate degree in nursing (ADN) programs in New York. (2024)
  • St. Peter's Hospital was voted as "Best Hospital" in the Times Union's "Best of the Capital Region Poll." (2022-2024) 
  • St. Peter's and Samaritan Hospitals are currently ranked among the top 1% in the country for robotic surgeries (2024). The hospitals reached 20,000 robotic surgeries in August 2022 and were among only 26 hospitals in the world that achieved this milestone. 
  • St. Peter's Hospital has been recognized as a Magnet®-designated organization (for the fourth consecutive time) by the American Nurses Credentialing Center® (ANCC) Magnet® Recognition Program. (2021-2024)
  • The Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) has accredited:
    • St. Peter's Hospital in echocardiology (adult transesophageal, adult transthoracic). (Through 2026)
    • St. Peter's Cardiac Imaging Center  2 Palisades Drive, Albany – in echocardiology (adult stress, adult transthoracic). (Through 2024)
  • St. Peter's Health Partners Nursing Professional Development Department has been honored with the Teamwork Award from The Northeast New York Professional Nurses Organization. (2022)
  • St. Peter's Hospital has achieved "The Gold Seal of Approval®" from The Joint Commission®. (2022)
  • St. Peter’s Hospital Breast Center has received a full, three-year accreditation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). (2024-2027, 2020-2023)
  • St. Peter's Hospital has been designated as a New York State Department of Health Primary Stroke Center. (2024, 2022)
  • St. Peter's Cancer Care Center is accredited by the American College of Radiation Oncology (ACRO). (2022-2025)
  • St. Peter's Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit has been awarded the Silver-Level Beacon Award for Excellence by the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN). (2021-2024)
  • St. Peter's Hospital has an overall four-star Medicare rating. (2024, 2022)
  • St. Peter's Bariatric & Metabolic Care has received accreditation from the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP). (2021-2024) 
  • St. Peter's Hospital received Accreditation for Cardiovascular Excellence (ACE) for percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). It was the first hospital in New York state to receive this accreditation. (2022)
  • The American College of Radiology has approved accreditation for St. Peter's Hospital Medical Imaging in the following areas:

Samaritan Hospital (457 Staffed Beds):

  • Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine at Samaritan Hospital (Albany Memorial Campus) has been accredited by the Undersea & Hyperbaric Medical Society. (2022-2024)

Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital (115 Staffed Beds):

  • Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital named one of US News & World Report's Best Rehab Hospitals (2021-2024)
    • It ranked Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital in the top 35 in the country for rehabilitation out of 4,523 hospitals for the past two years. In 2022, it was the only rehabilitation hospital to make the list in the entire Northeast, outside of the metropolitan centers of New York City, Boston, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh. 
  • Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital has been accredited by the Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital holds CARF accreditations (2022-2023) in:
    • Inpatient Rehabilitation Programs for adults and children
    • Inpatient Amputation Specialty Program for adults
    • Inpatient Brain Injury Specialty Programs for adults, children, and adolescents
    • Inpatient Stroke Specialty Program for adults
    • Interdisciplinary Outpatient Brain Injury Specialty Program for adults, children, and adolescents
  • Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital has been awarded The Gold Seal of Approval® accreditation from The Joint Commission®. (2022)

St. Peter's Health Partners Medical Associates (SPHPMA):

  • St. Peter's Vascular Associates is the only accredited Vein Center in the Capital Region, accredited by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC). (2022-2024)
  • St. Peter's Vascular Associates is accredited in Vascular Testing by IAC. (2023-2025)
  • Other practices accredited by the AIC include:
    • Albany Associates in Cardiology (AAC) has been granted three-year terms of accreditation in nuclear cardiology, positron emission tomography (PET), and computed tomography (CT) in the areas of coronary calcium scoring and coronary computed tomography angiography (CTA). (2022-2025)
    • AAC is also accredited in:
      • Adult transthoracic echocardiography (2021-2024)
      • Myocardial perfusion imaging nuclear/PET (2021-2024)
    • Cardiology Associates of Schenectady is accredited in:
      • adult transthoracic echocardiography through 2024 and nuclear/PET (myocardial perfusion imaging) through 2027 (Schenectady and Amsterdam practices)
      • adult transthoracic echocardiography through 2024 (Clifton Park and Gloversville practices)
  • The American Medical Association/American Heart Association awarded SPHPMA its second Target: BPTM Gold+ Award in recognition of achieving an exceptional 70% or greater blood pressure control and committing to accurate measurement among our adult patient populations. (2022, 2023)
