I guess the most valuable thing a physician can give his patients is himself— meaning investing his whole self while seeing you in his office. Being present,leaving nothing to chance, but taking all precautions, and tests necessary, …and caring. I call it being a good human. He probably would have been a wonderful teacher mentor in med school.
