Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)

If You Need Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

About 20 percent of wound care patients are candidates for hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT). This is a treatment in which the patient breathes 100 percent oxygen while inside a clear pressurized chamber.

This increased oxygen promotes wound healing by:

  • Stimulating small blood vessel growth
  • Promoting new skin growth
  • Helping to fight infection
  • Speeding up the healing process

Several conditions benefit from HBOT including:

  • Diabetics with a wound that is slow to heal, or is not healing
  • A person with damaged tissue from radiation therapy
  • Someone with a skin graft that has a questionable blood supply
  • Certain infections of the bone and/or skin
  • Traumatic injuries and post-surgical wounds that are failing to heal

Our Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy program was reaccredited in 2023 (valid for three years) by the Undersea & Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS) for meeting the highest standards of care and patient safety throughout a rigorous evaluation of the facility, equipment, staff, and training.
