Commitment to Those Who Are Poor

One of St. Peter’s Health Partners' core values is “Commitment to Those Who are Poor.” We stand with and serve those who are poor, especially those most vulnerable. We support and assist patients with accessing healthy foods they may not be able to obtain on their own.

Food Farmacy

The Food Farmacy is a free program that provides food-insecure patients, who also have a chronic disease, with supplies of healthy food. The program also educated patients on healthy eating and managing their chronic condition.

Emergency Food Assistance Program

This program is designed to identify food insecure patients, provide them with instant hunger relief, and link them to future assistance. Across St. Peter's Health Partners, patients are screened for food insecrutiy. Patients that express food insecurity will be given a bag of 3-days’ worth of healthy, shelf-stable food to take home with them upon discharge. They will also be asked to complete a referral form and, if they so desire, will be linked to additional resources to help combat their food insecurity needs in the long term.
