Cardiothoracic Surgery at St. Peter’s Hospital
- Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting (on-pump/off-pump) Surgery to improve blood flow to the heart by creating a new route around blocked arteries. “On-pump” uses a heart-lung machine; “off-pump” does not.
- Aortic Valve Replacement (Standard and Transcatheter) Replacing a damaged aortic valve with a new one. Standard is open-heart surgery; transcatheter is a less invasive option through a small incision.
- Aortic Valve Repair (David Procedure) Fixing your own aortic valve instead of replacing it, often for patients with an enlarged aorta.
- Mitral Valve Repair and Replacement Repairing or replacing the valve between the heart’s left chambers to help blood flow properly.
- Tricuspid Valve Repair and Replacement Fixing or replacing the valve on the right side of the heart that controls blood flow to the lungs.
- Reoperative Surgery A second heart surgery for patients who have had previous procedures.
- Pulmonary Valve Replacement Replacing the valve that controls blood flow from the heart to the lungs.
- Aortic Root and Aortic Surgery Repairing or replacing the part of the aorta closest to the heart, often due to aneurysm or enlargement.
- Aortic Dissection Emergency surgery to repair a tear in the wall of the aorta.
- Heart Surgery Without Blood Products (No Blood Transfusion) Surgery performed without using donated blood, often for patients who prefer this option.
- Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery Heart surgery done through small incisions instead of opening the chest fully, for faster recovery.
