St. Peter's Health Partners offers comprehensive hearing services for all ages, newborn through adult. Additionally, St. Peter’s Hospital and Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital provide hearing aids. Our professionals assist patients in identifying and understanding their hearing impairments and will help in finding individualized solutions for patients with hearing problems.

Hearing Access is a hospital-wide program that helps to support communication access for patients with hearing impairment. Patients can access assistive devices, including personal amplifiers, if needed. Access to TTYs can be provided to profoundly deaf patients upon request. Consultation with audiology staff is encouraged in challenging communication situations for patients and staff.

The Hearing Aid and Rehabilitation Program is a comprehensive hearing health care services, including evaluation, fitting of hearing aids and follow up. 

Other treatments and procedures available at St. Peter's include:

  • Otoacoustic emissions (sound generated from within the inner ear) or Auditory Brainstem Response hearing screenings for infants
  • Diagnostic testing for difficult-to-test infants and young children using Auditory Brainstem Response threshold testing with sedation as needed
  • Variety of digital hearing aid models and technologies with a 45-day trial period and money back guarantee
  • TransEar hearing device for people with unilateral deafness
  • Real Ear measurement of hearing aids and use of various outcome measures for successful fittings

All types of hearing aids are prescribed and dispensed through the Audiology department--a comprehensive dispensing program for more than 20 years. Follow up to set the hearing aids is included in the cost of the hearing devices. Cost, style, hearing loss, communication need and patient capability are all carefully considered. A "Return for Credit" program is supported, at patient request, according to the New York State 45-day trial period. Follow up to include proper adjustments is strongly encouraged. Our staff makes every effort to ensure excellent patient care and satisfaction. Patients with applicable insurance are provided with any supporting documentation needed to make their reimbursement process as easy as possible.
