Help Others by Volunteering at St. Peter's Hospital

Members of the community sixteen years of age or older can join the St Peter's Hospital staff in a rewarding position as a volunteer. As a volunteer, you will become an integral part of the hospital, committed to delivering the highest quality of health care with the spirit of compassion.

St Peter's Hospital offers over 65 different positions for volunteers. Our volunteers assist at the information desks, in the gift and thrift shops, serve as greeters, patient aides and friendly visitors, serve as Eucharistic Ministers, and volunteer in many other departments throughout the hospital.

Volunteering is a wonderful way to learn new job skills, fill educational requirements, meet new people and feel good about helping others. We match people's interest and abilities to the needs of the hospital to ensure quality and satisfaction to both the volunteer and the hospital staff.

Volunteer schedules are flexible. We ask that adult volunteers commit to a minimum of 100 hours of service per year. These hours can be completed during daytime, evenings and weekends depending on the needs of the department. Positions also exist for high school students in our Junior Volunteer program.

For more information, contact St. Peter's Hospital Volunteer Office at 518-525-1515 or email Amanda Weller.

Our Volunteers

Every year, nearly 600 volunteers provide more than $1 million in avoided costs and services to St. Peter's.

You cannot put a price, however, on the contributions of volunteers to the patients, families and visitors inside St. Peter's. Their value to patients and their families—through emotional support, compassionate care and attention—cannot be measured in dollars and cents.

Volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of 100 hours in a year. Hours are flexible and parking is free. Positions are also available for college students for volunteering or internships. Junior Volunteers (high school students) who have a minimum commitment of 50 hours a year.

St. Peter's also has a membership organization to support the hospital. Auxiliary members (or "Auxilians") serve in a leadership role for fundraising and project development for St. Peter's Hospital. The Auxiliary is instrumental in planning and conducting special events and fundraising activities.
