Excellent Outcomes

We're proud that our students enjoy a near-perfect pass rate on the National Council Licensing Examination (NCLEX). Their scores have been consistently higher than the average pass rate in New York State.

The Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing was chartered in 1903. Since that time, we have offered outstanding nursing education, and have graduated many nurses who are widely known for their exceptional competence and compassion. In 1988, the original diploma program was transformed into an associate degree program, and in 1995, a practical nurse certificate program was added.

This small school provides a nurturing environment with a faculty and staff whose entire focus is on the success of each and every one of our students. All of our nursing courses are carefully designed to foster deep learning and clinical competence. Every nursing course has a clinical component, so students have continuous opportunities to apply their classroom learning in the real world under the guidance of expert nurse educators. Clinical experiences are broad and varied – everything from acute care to rehabilitation to outpatient surgery and more.

Located on the second floor of Samaritan Hospital's St. Mary's Campus in Troy, we enjoy a beautiful, recently renovated campus. Our classrooms, skills labs, computer lab and library are state of the art.

We invite you to explore our website to learn more about the school. We offer information sessions periodically to provide in-depth information and tours. You are also welcome to drop by to visit the school and speak with our Admissions Coordinator for more information.

Nursing is a challenging and rewarding career. There is no greater honor than to be able to help people in their times of need. We are eager to meet you, and to work with you to help you accomplish your dream of becoming a nurse.
