With highly-skilled, board-certified and fellowship-trained breast surgeons, experienced surgical teams, and state-of-the-art procedure rooms, St. Peter’s Health Partners offers comprehensive breast surgery in both Albany and Troy.

  • Breast Conservation Surgery – (for example lumpectomy) is the most common form of breast cancer surgery. With a lumpectomy, the tumor and some of the surrounding breast tissue is removed.
  • Advanced Breast Conserving Surgery – (or oncoplastic surgery) - combines plastic surgery techniques and surgical oncology practices with the goal of conserving breast tissue. The advanced technique involves using the patient's own breast tissue for reconstruction after the cancer is removed. Oncoplastic breast surgery is not widely available in the U.S. The breast surgeons at St. Peter's Hospital are specially trained in this cutting-edge technique.
  • Breast Reconstruction and Mastectomy - Mastectomy is surgery in which whole breast tissue, along with the cancerous tumor, is removed. Breast reconstruction may be performed simultaneously to mastectomy for immediate restoration of volume and shape, or at a later date if radiation therapy is necessary. Immediate reconstruction allows for a skin-sparing mastectomy in those who are appropriate candidates. The surgeon will consult with each patient to determine if immediate or delayed reconstruction is best.
