St. Peter's Hospitalist Program

Hospitals Banner

While you are in the hospital, an expert in hospital medicine called a hospitalist may supervise and coordinate your care. You may see more than one member of our team during your stay.

Our Hospitalist Providers:

  • Often serve as the head of your health care team while you are in the hospital
  • Notify your primary care provider (PCP) when you are admitted and contact your PCP when you are discharged from the hospital
  • May visit you anytime between 8 am and 6 pm
  • Are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week

Your hospitalist will provide you with any prescriptions you may need until your follow-up appointment. Your hospitalist will also provide your primary care provider with a detailed report of findings and treatment plans from your stay. If you do not have a primary care physician, the hospitalist will refer you to one when it is time for you to be discharged.

After discharge, your primary care provider will be responsible for your medical care, including prescription refills.

Will I Receive a Separate Bill for Hospitalist Services?

Yes. The billing process for hospitalist care is similar to being billed by your primary care provider for a hospital visit. Learn more, phone St. Peter’s Health Partners Customer Service at 518-471-3000, or email us.
