Family Involvement
Family festivals are just one of the many ways that we deepen our relationships with our families. Family festivals have become an important part of our program. They provide the opportunity for unrushed exchanges with our teaching staff, as well as a good opportunity to see the children playing with materials offered throughout our program.
- FALL HARVEST FESTIVAL is an annual outdoor event at Mercy Cares For Kids, serving as our Halloween activity. The playground is transformed into a seasonally themed sensory play land. Sensory tables filled with seeds, gourds and pumpkins for sorting and rolling and warm spiced play dough are just of few of our Fall Harvest Festival standard offerings.
- WINTER FESTIVAL is an event held in February for families to enjoy. Art, sensory, gross motor and other fun activities are set up in a "winter wonderland" for families to do together. Our center closes early on the day of this festival to provide time for teachers and families to spend time with each other as the children explore each area.
- PARENTS AS MYSTERY READERS takes place twice a year to give families an opportunity to share a family favorite or a new book with the children in a child's classroom. We encourage children to explore books each day and having a family member read to the class is an exciting time for all of the children.
- FATHER'S DAY BREAKFAST IN MARCH is a time for the important men in a child's life to spend time before work enjoying a pancake breakfast served by the teachers.
- WEEK OF THE YOUNG CHILD is a national celebration of children during April. Each day of the week brings a new activity for the children to celebrate. The tradition of creating Mercy Cares For Kids quilt takes place during this celebration and is unveiled at the end of the week.
- MOTHER'S DAY ART GALA is held the week before Mother's Day. Art work of each child is displayed in our art gallery for women in the lives of children to enjoy with other families. Light snacks are served as children show off their hard work.
- PRE-K FAMILY PICNIC is held at the end of June before summer vacation and the transition to Kindergarten begins. Mercy Cares For Kids celebrates the completion of the Pre K school year with family and friends in our auditorium. A slide show of the children is shown, entertainment is provided, and dinner is served to the families.
