Our cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation programs nationally certified by the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR). This recognition signifies our commitment to using leading practices and delivering high-quality services. You can count on us for an exercise plan and compassionate support that meets your unique needs.

Multiple Specialists Work Together to Help You Get the Most Out of Each Session. Our Team Includes:

  • Cardiopulmonary nurses perform regular assessments and track your progress toward health goals. Nurses communicate with your heart or lung doctors as necessary to keep your recovery on track. They also share healthy living tips with you, making it easier to achieve your goals.
  • Certified exercise physiologists develop a personalized plan that’s appropriate for your capabilities. They show you how to use the exercise equipment and give you the encouragement you need.
  • Registered dietitians discuss the role of nutrition in your recovery and long-term well-being. They teach you how to incorporate healthy foods into your diet and explain which foods to eat in moderation.
  • Respiratory therapists provide additional support to patients who have difficulty breathing. This may include special monitoring to ensure you receive enough oxygen to feel comfortable while exercising.

What is Outpatient Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation?

After certain heart and lung issues, it is common to have lingering symptoms or tiredness that slow you down. You may also be fearful of complications that could send you back to the hospital. Rehabilitation at St. Peter’s Health Partners helps you regain your strength, live a healthy lifestyle, and feel confident about your future.

Cardiopulmonary rehabilitation is a medically supervised exercise and education program for people recovering from severe heart and lung disease. Outpatient services are for people who are well enough to be home from the hospital but need assistance achieving the next level of recovery.

Who is Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation For?

Most people recovering from severe heart or lung disease need rehabilitation.

We Regularly Treat People Who:

  • Are living with heart failure or a life-threatening cardiac condition
  • Had a heart attack
  • Are recovering from heart surgery, such as a coronary artery bypass graft (CABG)
  • Underwent cardiac catheterization procedures, including valve replacements or coronary stent replacement
  • Have chronic lung diseases, including COPD, emphysema, and pulmonary fibrosis

Insurance typically covers cardiac or pulmonary rehab. Financial assistance programs are available if you need help with out-of-pocket costs.
