Opioid Services (with Medication-Assisted Treatment)


St. Peter’s Health Partners operates two outpatient treatment sites providing withdrawal and stabilization services to individuals struggling with opioid addiction, including prescription pain medication and heroin. We provide Rapid Access to Medication Assisted Treatment. Individuals can access the program through any of our St. Peter’s Health Partners Emergency Departments, or at our walk-in clinics in Albany and Cohoes. No appointment is necessary.

St. Peter’s Health Partner’s opioid addiction withdrawal and stabilization services include:
- Emergency medical intervention at our Emergency Departments
- Withdrawal and Rapid Access to Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) including long-term injectables “Sublocade and Vivitrol”
- Medication bridge referral services to maintenance programs and providers
- Detox tapering medications
- Outpatient counseling and nursing services
- Referral to primary care
- Referral to harm reduction and peer support services
- Referral to comprehensive inpatient or outpatient services including social supports to help those struggling with withdrawal from prescription pain medication and heroin.
Our outpatient treatment locations are staffed by an experienced, multidisciplinary team of counselors, physicians, physicians assistants, nurse practitioners and nurses – all dedicated to offering individuals a safe place to begin their recovery from opioid addiction.

Answer: You do not need an appointment. You can walk into our Clinic during walk-in hours, or you can go to St. Peter’s Hospital or Samaritan Hospital Emergency Departments for immediate care 24/7.
Answer: Screening takes place with our nursing and medical staff to determine the best level of care. We have other withdrawal and stabilization services available that are better suited to meet the needs of an individual withdrawing from these substances. If you are experiencing withdrawal symptoms related to alcohol, benzodiazepines, or any substances other than opiates, this service is not appropriate. For immediate assistance, go to St. Peter’s Hospital or Samaritan Hospital Emergency Departments for immediate care 24/7.
Answer: We utilize medication both to taper patients off and ** the bridge to maintenance providers. This is determined individually with each patient. Our goal is to stabilize each patient and transition them to the next level of care within two to three weeks.
Answer: We work with MAS Medicaid Transportation to provide cab services or bus vouchers.
Answer: Bring a photo ID and insurance card(s).
Answer: Patients should contact their carrier to find participating providers. Carrier participation is updated frequently. You can also ask our front desk information associate about participation status of your insurance.
Answer: Patients without insurance will meet with staff from Elevate who help patients in understanding their bills, complete assistance applications for Medicaid, or purchase plans through the Health Exchange.

Answer: We have many other services available within our own system of care and collaborate with community partners as well. Our multidisciplinary team will work with you to make a referral to an appropriate level of care.
